Campaign for Wool

I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as a Supporter for The Campaign for Wool, an international endeavour started by HRH The Prince of Wales to raise awareness about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool. Here at Mary Kilvert we are proud of the provenance of our wool. Our hand-felted sheep are made from organic wool collected from a flock of Welsh Lleyn Sheep that used to belong to my family and live on a farm in Herefordshire. The tiny jumpers they wear are hand-knitted from soft Scottish lambswool from a mill that has been producing yarns and materials from local wool in Scotland since 1798.
Even our shop at the top of Catherine Hill in Frome used to be a wool carders 200 years ago. Here we sell sheepskins from the West Country in a rich variety of neutral hues, handcrafted sheep sculptures and pull along toys, and a beautiful collection of colourful blankets and knitwear made in Ireland and Wales.
